Amos was born and raised in Pennsylvania, specifically in Schuylkill County.

Amos Koch grew up in Auburn in Schuylkill County.

This is also where he enlisted for the war when he was 20.

Prior to being drafted in the war, Amos Koch worked in both a coal mine and Penna

Electric Steel Foundry, both of which were large industries in Pennsylvania at the time.

Industrial work and factories such as steel and coal were the major contribution Pennsylvania

made to the World War ll efforts.
