Reflection

After doing research for a month on Amos Koch and gaining an understanding for the life of a World War ll soldier, my respect has exponentially grown for those that have lost their loved ones and their lives. Delving into the backstory and smaller details of a person's life made the impact of that person's contribution more real. I have also gained an understanding for why people dedicate their lives and are willing to make great sacrifices for their country and their freedom.

If I ever had the opportunity to meet Amos Koch, there are many things I would say. For instance, I would ask him about how he was feeling through the process of being drafted, going through training, and eventually going to Normandy.

While doing research on Amos's life, the most important and helpful source was Ancestry. It led me to several pages with details about his life such as the Federal Census, his draft card, and his burial information.

Doing this project also has completely redefined gratitude for me. I am able to express and interpret my gratitude for a person that I have never even met. I am able to be grateful for the sacrifice he made and how it has impacted people. Above all, I am grateful to have been able to research Amos Koch and his life.
